Justine Obiakor

 

Justine graduated from Cajon High School in 2010. She was involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. During her freshmen and sophomore year she played on the girls’ basketball and track team. Justine was also an active member in the fashion club, black student union and I’ll.M.A.T.I.C. (I’ll make a transformation in my community) Club. She served as president of the Black Student Union club 2009-2010 and also served as the founding president of I’ll.M.A.T.I.C. Club, which is a big sister little sister mentoring and community service program. 


After graduation Justine attended San Jose State University for a semester before transferring to San Diego State University. During her time as a SDSU Aztec, Justine was a Peer Advisor for SDSU’s Study Abroad Office. She was also a Peer Health Educator for her school’s Clinic Health Promotion Department. During her last year as an undergrad, Justine volunteered as a Mentor to freshmen and transfer students for SDSU’s College of Sciences’ Introductory to Campus Activities and Networking (ICAN) program. She was an active member of the Students for Public Health and Black Student Science Organization (BSSO) clubs during her undergraduate studies. During her last year of studies she was selected to complete a health policy internship at the San Diego American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. Justine graduated from SDSU in 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Public Health and a minor in International Security and Conflict Resolutions (ISCOR). The summer following graduation Justine became a member of the Health Career Connection Network and was placed at a local grass root community organizing non-profit called Mid-City CAN in the urban/low-income community of City Heights San Diego for a 10 week placement.


Justine is currently a full time post graduate student studying her Masters in Health Policy at the City University of London in the United Kingdom. She is also serving as a member on Amnesty International UK Women’s Action Network Committee.
Justine aspires to go on and study International Human Rights Law in hopes of one day working for the United Nations.
