Darrell Davis

Born in Los Angeles, California, Darrell Davis was one of seven children. His family lived in Wisconsin, Missouri, and Nevada, before returning to California in time for Darrell to begin school at Shandin Hills Middle School and then at CHS. He recalls his time at CHS as the most challenging, yet rewarding years of his life. He had difficulty adjusting an underclassman, and he developed social phobias that were heightened further by his frustrations of adjusting to the rigor of the international baccalaureate classes. Extra-curricular activities helped shape his career aspirations and improve academically. He became involved with the school newspaper, yearbook, marching band, chess club, and tennis.

After graduation, Darrell worked as an emergency medical technician and certified nursing assistant for the next ten years. He completed the nursing program and earned an associate’s degree from Cerritos College with high honors. Afterwards, he worked as an ER nurse for nine years. During that time, he returned to college to obtain his Bachelors of Science in Nursing and his Masters of Science in Nursing Education.

This past January, Darrell took his oath to serve in the U.S. Army and was offered a commission as an officer/Captain in the Nurse Corps. His first duty station will be in Kentucky with the Fighting Eagles, the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. Thanks to encouraging parents and inspiring high school teachers, Darrell and many of his siblings became the first in their family to go to college.
